Sushi School
For eight years Feng Sushi school has been helping home cooks gain the confidence to use Japanese ingredients and cooking techniques at home. The school was developed by Silla to take the fear factor out of making sushi at home.
The course takes place on a single day and is around four and a half hours long. You will learn how to prepare sushi rice, how to classic sushi like salmon and tuna nigiri as well as variety of maki (rolls). You will learn what ingredients to buy and where to buy them, where to buy fish and which fish is suitable and sustainable. The course includes a sushi making kit to take home with you, a copy of the Feng Sushi cookbook and enough sushi to feed four hungry people. We will run 6 schools in the early 2012.
Sushi Technique course includes:
•The perfect sushi rice; washing, cooking and mixing
•Preparation of vegetables
•Demonstration of a couple of fancy sushi
•Vegetarian maki techniques
•Fish cutting techniques for salmon and tuna
•Nigiri techniques
If you want a bespoke school as a special event we can cater for up to 6 people at Feng Sushi or more at the Billingsgate seafood school. As well as the Feng Sushi school Silla also teaches 6 times a year at The Seafood Training School in Billingsgate.
